Backgrounds

This list comprises activities and aspects of the Role-Player! character's past. Most of these are, as is the way of things, shameful, and it is likely that the character will do his best to conceal them from the rest of the party (or Clique, to use the proper phrase). As such, they provide extra points as Compensation. Where the background is actually beneficial, it will of course cost points rather than provide them.

Has played their previous character's brother/son -10 pts per occurrence

Has refereed Dangerous Journeys -50 pts

Has devised an alternate rationale for a nonsensical genre film (Highlander II, Planet of the Apes, etc.) -15 pts

Has written up their own house rules for an RPG and formatted them identically to the source RPG -15 pts

Has converted one system to another and run games with same -10 pts

Still keeping hold of 'rare' Magic cards in the belief that they will one day be worth anything again -20 pts

Has ever played a character who is an extremely identifiable genre character (Darth Maul, Rincewind, Maximus) -10 pts

Works in a games shop -30 pts

Works in the games industry -50 pts

Has written any form of academic discourse about role-playing -10 pts

Has used knowledge obtained from gaming to save their own or someone else's life. N.B. documentary proof and witness testimony may be required by the Warden. +100 pts

Lives in Birmingham Free

Has multi-part novel / freeform / comic perpetually 'in development' -15 pts

Has read all the Gor books (male only) -20 pts
