Character Creation

The most important facet to character creation is selecting your clan:

Gorilla: The Gorilla clan is the most powerful in Simian society. As individuals they tend to be strong and fierce. Unfortunately, they sometimes have difficulty finding trousers that fit.

Special abilities: Grabbing, Crushing, Smacking, Climbing

Orangutan: The Orangutans are known for their intelligence and wisdom, beyond those of most apes. They have also passed down secrets of ancient lore, enabling them to perform feats of magic.

Special abilities: Sorcery, Smacking, Cryptography, Grooming

Monkey: Members of the Monkey clans have the most difficulty fitting in with human society: not only are they much smaller than the typical Man, but they also have tails. On the up side, they're quick and nimble. Go monkey go!

Special abilities: Jumping, Hiding, Climbing, Pilfering

Chimpanzee: Chimpanzees are clever, and their natural charisma helps them to interact with human beings easily. Many chimpanzees can even buy human clothes right off the rack. And they're funny.

Special abilities: Entertaining, Amusing, Deceiving, Grooming

Baboon: The Baboon clan is a recent arrival. Until now, they've preferred to remain in their jungle homes in safety. Recently some have decided to join the other clans in infiltrating human society, but they haven't yet learnt the subtleties of human culture and language, preferring to prevent confrontations by dazzling humans with their colourful anatomy.

Special abilities: Wailing, Jumping, Biting, Flashing Their Bright Blue Butts

Then make up some stats and other skills and stuff.

Of course, the most important stat for any Simian is their fundamental connection to their jungle home, their memory of the Swinging. This is called Oook. If a Simian's Oook ever reaches zero, they risk being lured to the the far side of the Rift and forever becoming human.
